40 officers since January 2026. 39 men and 1 woman. 40 fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. 40 people who call America their home, who vowed an oath to protect and serve.
Gunfire. Automobile crash. Vehicular assault. Several causes, one outcome.
The average tour of duty for the fallen? 10 years. The average age? Just 39.
This is Police Week, where we honor and celebrate all of the good that our men and women in blue do for us each and every day. A week where we thank them for their service. And a week where our hearts are filled with the pain of their sacrifice.
On this national day of remembrance, America honors the fallen. We also remember their compatriots, family, and friends, and thank them for their enduring sacrifices.
Thank you to the Officer Down Memorial Page, which chronicles the human cost of protecting our communities.
Thank you to the families of these courageous men and women for supporting them.
Thank you to the departments, leadership, and fellow officers who have served alongside all those who have fallen.
And most importantly, we lift up the memories of each and every one of the 40 fallen officers who have reached the end of their watch, and all of those that have passed before them. We thank and honor their ultimate sacrifices.
