Austin, TX—Today, Americans for Public Safety (APS), a 501c4 organization that supports
candidates and policies that respect law enforcement, endorsed Winsome Earle-Sears for
Governor of Virginia.
“Winsome Earle-Sears has the vision and commitment to support the police and make public
safety a priority,” said Justin Keener, President of Americans for Public Safety. “Cities and
states that do not give material and moral support to the police descend into
lawlessness. Virginians face a clear choice.”
Winsome Earle-Sears has the support of over eighty sheriffs in Virginia. She also supports a
proposal to exempt the first $20,000 of a police officer’s salary from taxation by the state, a
move that will improve recruitment and retention.
“Once in office, Winsome Earle-Sears can be trusted to follow and enforce the law. When the
Democrat candidate for attorney general once sent text messages imagining killing a political
rival and his children, and the Democrat nominee for governor does not call on him to step
down, the people must reject them both,” said Doug Deason, Chairman of Americans for
Public Safety.
Justin Keener, along with Americans for Public Safety co-founder Doug Deason, recently
authored an op-ed in the Washington Examiner, “A crackdown on crime could restore the
American dream,” where they highlighted measures needed to make our streets safer, and the
positive effects of President Trump’s efforts to stop violent crime.
Justin Keener is a public safety & victims advocate who has worked with the Texas Legislature
and Trump Administration to pass anti-crime measures. He serves on the board of the Council
of Criminal Justice, and previously worked at the Dallas Crime Commission and Dallas Crime
Stoppers.
